A statue for Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce

There is currently no statue of the famed author and Civil War veteran, neither in his home state of Indiana, his long-time home of San Francisco, nor his presumed resting place of Northern Mexico.

Bierce deserves better than that.

To contribute to a life-size commemorative statue of the man (which will be crafted by a famous sculptor of Civil War art), to be placed at the point of his last sighting on the bank of the Rio Grande at El Paso, Texas, you merely need to send a contribution via Amazon Payments to "mseymour@proofmark.com".

Your contribution will be placed in an escrow account (and noted on this blog) until the statue is ready to be constructed. Your name will be inscribed on the base of the statue (unless you notify us that you would rather your donation be made anonymously) to signify your contribution to preserving the memory of Bierce and his role in American literary history.
